Gamma Bomb[]
While observing a the testing of a Gamma Bomb alongside his girlfriend and colleague, Betty Ross, and her father, General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross. When he saw a hapless teenager named Rick Jones hanging out in range of the blast radius. Bruce hurriedly left the bunker to rescue Rick, throwing him into a trench, but before Bruce could hop into the trench the bomb detonated, exposing the scientist to powerful gamma rays and transforming him into a giant green monster called the Hulk.
